You know he knew you? Your pal, your buddy, your Bucky.
#i don’t think there’s anything more agonizing than this 🥺🥺🥺#like in the basement#how small his voice sounds and yet how stubbornly he says ‘but i knew him’#even though he was just told that he’s wrong#but he’s desperate to assert this#to claim this#he *knew* him. take everything else away from him but not this. he’s not letting *this* go#he knows it’s real. he needs it to be real.#and he just looks so fkcing broken knowing that he’s about to lose this#the helicarrier scene is just its own stage of grief tbh#he knows that steve’s telling the truth because he felt it first#but saying it out loud makes it real#and if this IS real then what does that mean for him?#what have they done to him#how much have they taken away from him#and what is left now?#it’s a truth too terrible to contemplate#so it must be denied#vehemently and desperately#when i think of how alone he must have felt in both scenes i just-#*cries in a corner* via rillils
