the way i see it brock would have gone "your pal your buddy your bucky" and steve would have knocked him out on the spot and no bomb would have gone off and he could come back and still be the epitome of a cishet white man with delusions of grandeur and anger issues, because that's what he is!!! he's just some entitled power hungry asshole and nothing about him was sympathetic and that made him easy to hate, it made it easy to understand why he was the bad guy, there was no moral ambiguity, there was no "well actually thanos' methods and execution were deeply flawed but his intentions were good" type bullshit which is good!!! that's not wanting to sympathize with a nazi that's wanting villains who are fucking allowed to be evil bastards, because comic books are and always have primarilly been societal commentary and not every bad person has a sob story sometimes they're just greedy evil entitled fuckers
