Loki of Jotunheim

Nice ice crystal crown! Looks beautiful, cold and sharp. Sort of like Loki himself.

["King Loki Laufeyson"

Nice tats in this tribal look. I like the bleached white hair too.

In this portrait, my attention is immediately drawn to Loki's jotun scarification. I once met a very learned and distinguished judge from Africa who bore facial scarification as indicia of his tribal affiliations. How painful scarification must be to acquire!

This is one of my favourite Artmetica illustrations, depicting that point in time when a transitioning Loki is both Jotun and Aesir. Loki's shapeshifting between those two realities is another indication of his essentially shamanic nature. In celtic spirituality, places and times of transition are sacred, liminal spaces which are to be profoundly honoured and revered.
