Are we getting the REAL story about Steve and Bucky? This fic casts things in a different light.

Steve is all "Star-crossed Bromance of the Century!" and Bucky is completely done with the guy by hencemyname -- My Summary: How Bucky really feels about Steve, that pain in the ass. Author's Summary: Tl;dr: Bucky and Steve are frenemies; Steve just can’t quit him.

It takes a while for Bucky to process that the skinny kid from Brooklyn has turned into this big, strapping war hero. And that said war hero is not only a national icon but single-handedly responsible for rescuing most of the 107th. But the thing that kills Bucky the most is that Steve shines brighter than Bucky at his best. He’s so large and blonde, and draws the eyes of all the prettiest dames. Even that fast-talking, hard-body Carter who has shot down every one of Bucky’s advances.

And fuck it if that ain’t the worst. It feels like he’s just escaped Brooklyn and now it’s back, trying to claw its way into his heart and calling him “Buck” with these big blue eyes. He…

He fucking hates Steve but Somehow gets saddled with him for every mission. Of course he does. This idiot is Captain America now and the good Captain gets what he wants. Everywhere he turns it’s “Hey, Buck. Remember-?” Or “Buck, when we get back-” And pretty soon all of the fellas in camp think they’re queer for each other. They’re no longer two separate people but instead, SteveandBucky. At least back in Brooklyn it had been Buckyandthatsicklyboy.

Super Soldiers at the Beach

Steve can never just relax at the beach. Oh no, he's got to be active and doing something athletic all the time.
