Never forget that the Sokiva Accords require any individual with “innate powers” to wear a tracking bracelet at all times. Even individuals who aren’t part of the Avengers and don’t get involved in crime fighting. Tony Stark knew this and was fine with it because it doesn’t apply to him.
I think you might be mixing up the Sokovia Accords (MCU) with the Superhuman Registration Act (Comics). Because the Sokovia Accords only applied to those who wanted to continue using their powers in a law enforcement/military capacity. And to the best of my MCU knowledge, did not include anything about tracking devices. However this does sound very much like what I know of the comic version.
To the point about it being only for those who use their powers in military/law enforcement:
“threat to the general safety of the public” is incredibly broad, and that’s on purpose. If the government can argue that you’re a danger in literally any capacity you can (and probably will) be detained. People are too casual with the gravity of the Sokovia Accords and it’s why I think being Team Iron Man is either pure evil or pure ignorance.
no see this is why it pisses me off everyone who saw cacw forgets this and just assumes steve didn’t want to sign because he was sad about bucky or an asshole or something???? and that tony had any right to push this on all of them out of “responsibility” like fuck that???? lol???? that first scene with ross steve makes SO MANY good points about how the accords are far too invasive in general and how it’s unfair to subject every enhanced individual or agent on earth to this in response to an ACCIDENT and how the way the accords strip them of basically all their rights and autonomy in favor of making them answer to a government and/or military power get iGNORED because people see him defending bucky after that and the movie was literally edited and marketed to make us feel almost no compassion for steve or pull fans to his side.
like. as much as i believe in general corruption and support cap criticizing the powers that be in GENERAL i think it’s also important to remember that just before this in his arc he found out p much the entirety of the military and gov even secret orgs like shield have been being controlled by fucking nazis since ww2 altering history towards bigotry and control….. and everyone loves to gaslight him for overreacting to the point where they FORGET that YEAH the accords were extremely fucked up and probably hydra had their sticky little hands all over it as well and the fact that they’re detained without trial means bucky, even once it was proven he DIDNT bomb the accords signing, could have been put away on the spot for crimes as tws despite not having literally any ability to act of his own free will like that’s SO DANGEROUS and also terrifying people seem to lack the critical thinking skills to understand that bc it’s “just a movie”
also to be a little anti tony as a treat he LITERALLY has almost nothing to lose from signing the accords bc like. he doesn’t have powers. he won’t have to wear a tracker or submit dna or anything??? he alREADY revealed his secret identity YEARS ago and has had more success than fallout with it and hes NOT a vigilante bc his whole career was built off of collaborations with the us gov and military etc etc it is SO monumentally fucked up that he sees that and goes “works for me!” then gets mad when the others hes condemned to suffering under it push back GOD !!! GOD!
i saw an instagram post earlier showing the scene at the airport and being like “tony in this scene doing everything he can to convince steve not to tear their family apart🥺🥺🥺” as if tony wasn’t directly advocating for a policy that would directly condemn steve and other members of their team while having little to no effect on him. talk about tearing a family apart.
i guess the bottom line is that everything tony did in civil war came from a place of privilege. even if some of his motivation is to finally take some accountability, it’s a damn privilege that he could wait that long to do it
