Our Boys veered from their quest to recreate the Love Poses of Art, History, and Culture to reenact a true American classic along the side of a desolate road in Iowa.
Sam argued for using GPS or at the very least a “damn map” to find the real house. Bucky counter-argued he knew the exact location since he’d been there in 1993 although the reason was lost in one of the potholes of his memory.
Natasha found the whole thing mildly amusing in a big sister sort of way.
Steve just wanted to see Bucky happy.
The sun was dropping to sit on the skyline when they finally set the quinjet down in a field and gave up looking for that house and just climbed out to catch the shot.
Sam lost a bet with Nat and had to pay up by helping Bucky with photoshop to get rid of the mountain of cow dung that the Boys accidentally used as a backdrop. Although the aroma was distinct, the “hill” behind them that glowed a magnificent amber in the setting sun as a “perfect substitute” for the old house, did not glow so brightly in the finished picture.
Proving that even Super Heroes have lessons to learn about farming. And Iowa. And maybe photo shoots.
American Gothic is a painting by American artist Grant Wood in 1930. Shown are a farmer and his spinster daughter in front of their house. The models on the painting were Wood’s sister, Nan, wearing a colonial print apron mimicking 19th century Americana, and Wood’s dentist, Dr. Byron McKeeby from Iowa. The house actually exists in Eldon, Iowa. It was built in the American Gothic style.
