Portraits of Loki

Crazy hair and a pained look but I like how the shadows and planes of Loki's face are depicted.

Arty! A welcome change from the usual realism of Loki art.

The blurred and splotchy effect superimposed on this photo manip is a great visual representation of how Loki is emotionally out of control with rage. And maybe crazy. I like his feral look too and the portrayed pain which underlies it.

The Three Types of Thorki

As I've discovered in the course of my travels across the wild, wild internet, three types of Thorki are found there.

The first type consists of sweet, romantic and more-or-less innocent depictions of love between Thor and Loki. Heavy on images of hand-holding, kissing and hugging, it is sometimes dismissively or pejoratively referred to as "Thorki fluff." But I think that's both unfair and unduly cynical. Slash and yaoi are largely created by women for women and most of us, I believe, still value romance and emotion as the basis for sex. Plus, it's women who like to focus on and appreciate little heart-fluttering details like, for example, Thor's beautiful blonde hair and eyelashes:

And there's nothing wrong with that.

The second type of Thorki imagery is much more erotic but still not overtly graphic. Sexual activity is clearly being depicted but the details are left up to the viewer's or reader's imagination. If well done artistically, erotic Thorki can be great fun. And hot. Don't forget hot.

Most of the images I post on this blog fall into the first two Thorki categories.

The third type of Thorki is sexually graphic. Extremely graphic. It ranges from standard pornography right through every variety and degree of kink imaginable.

OMG they do what with Mjolnir? And right there on the Throne of Asgard?

The third type of Thorki also includes stuff that is downright criminal. No, I do not want to see or read about man/boy sex between an adult Thor and Loki as a child.

Trust me, none of that child porn will ever be posted on this site.

But there's nothing wrong or obscene with the graphic depiction of adult gay male sex in and of itself so I will occasionally post some if it is well done. So for example, here's the full scene from which that earlier detail was excerpted in this post. Hey, it's what gay men do.

However, most sexually graphic Thorki does not have the saving grace of artistic or literary merit and tends to be teeth-jarringly crude in both its content and execution. So there probably will not be a whole lot of it posted here, but there will be some.

In the meantime, cue the hand-holding and kissing, LOL!

Doth Mother Know You Weareth Her Drapes?

One of the best lines from The Avengers movie! And a sartorial observation that is not without a certain degree of truth.

Tom Hiddleston may have serious Shakespearean acting chops but can he really compete with Chris Hemsworth playing Shakespeare in the Park, LOL?

Spotlight on a Favourite Artist: Kakachan (Part 3)

Apparently, this more overtly erotic drawing by Jia / Jiajia_X / Kakachan was inspired by a photo of cats. On her website, Kakachan writes of Thor and Loki that "They are cosplaying my friend's father and son cats, ehehehe." Usually when people reblog or repost this portrait, they remove the cat photo but I think it's important to keep it to show that cats inspire creativity!

There's a second version of this portrait to be found on the internet as well, copied and coloured by another artist. Colour enhances the sensuality of the depiction.

This concludes my homage to Jia / Jiajia_X / Kakachan. May she continue to produce more of her quality Thorki art in the future!

Spotlight on a Favourite Artist: Kakachan (Part 2)

Another romantic rendering by Jia / Jiajia_X / Kakachan of Thor and Loki in love. The sakura (cherry blossoms) of Spring give this scene a distinctly oriental feel. It makes me think of one of my favourite haiku: under cherry blossoms / everyone is happy.

Of course, sakura last only a short while and then they are gone. The bare branches in the upper corner foreshadow that Thor and Loki will not always be so enthralled with each other.

But for the moment, their lingering look speaks only of love and desire.
