Loki Chained and Bound

Slash artists do love to portray Loki in bondage -- the more extreme and sexually suggestive, the better, it appears.

Of course, the original Norse myths featured Loki in bondage as well, though not for sexual purposes but as punishment for causing the death of Baldr. Moreover, the gods bound Loki with the entrails of his own sons killed especially for that purpose. It's pretty hard to top that for vindictive, extremist cruelty. Slash bondage seems kinda tame by comparison now, doesn't it?

Thor Gets Rough

There is no explicit violence in this portrayal of apparent affection, but it is full of tension and menace. Thor's frown, the avoidant tilt of Loki's head, the suggestive positioning of his arms behind his back as if tied, Thor's half-closed yet still (at this point) caressing hand . . . .

This next portrayal is much more explicitly violent and yet, oddly enough, much less distressing simply because Loki's sexual consent and desire are readily apparent. As the artist's tag for this piece says: "cocks don't lie."

Subtitles and Subtext

Because the two actors never break eye contact, it gives this scene a powerful subtext beyond the superficial. Thor's restraint of his anger and dominance also reveals the characters' underlying emotional connection. Loki being manacled gives this scene a special little sexual frisson as well. But, as the subtitle notes, it's the heavy breathing that speaks volumes!

Rough Landing

Well, now that all those holiday feels of peace and love are over, time to get back to the rough stuff. So how about a whole week's worth of Thor showing Loki who's boss?

When Thor gets pissed off, he can be pretty mean to his little brother. Like in The Avengers when Thor kidnaps Loki from Shield's custody.

Because of the 3D effects, the next scene is almost pitch black in the movie but it's been lightened in this gif so it's easy to see how Thor unceremoniously dumps Loki a few feet above the ground to ensure he won't have a soft landing. Ouch, now that's gotta hurt!
