Frostiron Boys

Continuing on from yesterday's fabulous gif, its artist/creator also made a second version pairing Loki and Tony Stark. But in this instance, the merged portrait illustrates similarity rather than duality. As the portrait's title says, "You are so vain" -- these two have much more in common than either would probably like to acknowledge.

The Duality of Opposites

The duality of Thor and Loki is a rich subject for both artistic and literary imagery. For example, the letters of this clever ambigram are all reversed mirror opposites of each other, although they appear in a different order.

The look of this dual portrait reminds me of tarot cards. Loki is paired with his offspring the Midgard Serpent and Thor is paired with one of the magical goats which draw his chariot in Norse myth.
